Grocery Shopping and Food Storage consumer Tips
7 October 2019
- When grocery shopping, make sure to
separate fruits and vegetables from raw meats
- Make sure that any food packages you
buy are completely sealed and unopened
- Make sure to buy your eggs, meat
and fish at the end of your trip
- Make sure not to leave raw meats and
fish to thaw outside the fridge
- Once you have purchased your groceries, be
sure to go home and store them immediately
- Avoid opening the fridge repeatedly so
that your food stays colder longer
- Don't leave hot foods to completely cool
outside. Put hot food in the fridge or freezer
as soon as the steam stops rising.
- Divide food into small containers so it
cools more quickly in the fridge
- Don't overfill your fridge. Make sure there is
room for air circulation inside the fridge for
effective cooling
- Store any leftovers in the fridge and
eat within two to three days
